Can I hold positions overnight or over the weekend?
You can hold positions overnight within the trading week. Positions cannot be held over the weekend — open positions are closed before the Friday close.

Ftytrade lets you hold positions overnight during the week, but not over the weekend.
Overnight (within the week)
You can keep a position open from one session to the next. The futures market runs almost 23 hours a day, with a short daily maintenance break, so your position carries through as normal.
Over the weekend
Positions cannot be held over the weekend. You must close your positions before the market closes on Friday. Any position still open at that time is flattened automatically by the platform.
Why
The weekend gap — the jump in price between Friday’s close and Sunday’s open — can move sharply on news that happens while the market is closed. Closing before the weekend protects your account from a move you cannot react to.

Tip
Set yourself a reminder before the Friday close. If you trade late on Friday, plan your exit in advance so you are not forced out of a position at the last minute.
