Can I use a VPS?
Yes. You can trade from a VPS as long as you are the only person using the account. A VPS can improve connection speed and stability.

Yes. You are welcome to run your trading platform on a VPS (Virtual Private Server). Many traders use one for a faster, always-on connection.
Why traders use a VPS
- A stable internet connection that does not depend on your home network.
- Lower latency to the market, which can mean faster fills.
- Your platform keeps running even if your own computer is off, so your charts and any automated strategy stay live.
The one rule
The account must only ever be traded by you. A VPS is fine because you are still the only person using the account — but giving someone else access to trade it, through a VPS or any other way, is not allowed and leads to the account being closed.
Setting it up
- Rent a VPS from any provider you trust.
- Install your trading platform (TradingThings, Quantower or MotiveWave) on it.
- Log in to R|Trader once, then connect your platform with your credentials.
- Trade as normal.
Tip
Choose a VPS located close to the exchange servers (US, typically Chicago or New York regions) for the lowest latency.
