Non-Professional is a market data status set by the exchange. It tells the data provider whether you trade as a private individual or on behalf of a business.
Non-Professional vs Professional
- Non-Professional: you trade for yourself, as a private individual. This is the correct status for Ftytrade traders.
- Professional: you trade on behalf of a company, or you are registered with a financial regulator. This carries a much higher market data cost.
Why you must choose Non-Professional
- Every Ftytrade trader should be Non-Professional.
- Choosing Professional by mistake multiplies the market data cost and can lead to your account being suspended.
- You select this when you first log in to R|Trader.
Where it is set and seen
- You choose it during your first R|Trader login (Market Data status).
- It is linked to your account on the Rithmic side.

In short
Always choose Non-Professional. If you are ever unsure, select Non-Professional and contact support if you have questions.
